How often should I have my dog groomed?
Q:  How often should I have my dog groomed?

It depends on the breed of dog. Most dogs should be groomed approximately every 4-6 weeks in order to maintain a good healthy coat. You donʼt want the coat to get matted because that hurts the dog. Matting pulls on the dogʼs skin.
How often should I brush my dog and why is it beneficial?
Q:  How often should I brush my dog and why is it beneficial?

You should brush your dog every other day, especially if it is a long coated dog. Actually, combing is better because it gets down to the skin. It is beneficial because it stimulates the hair follicles and it gives you one to one bonding time with your dog. It should be relaxing for both of you. Donʼt give up!
What can I do to keep my dog from scratching?
Q:  What can I do to keep my dog from scratching?

There are many reasons why a dog can be itchy. Donʼt always assume it is fleas. Look closely at the skin. If you see black specs then it probably is fleas and that can be treated. If the skin is dry and scaly cortisone cream or spray can be administered. Allergies could be the culprit. Consult your vet if the itching continues. Put yourself in the dogʼs place.
