Harrisburg's Talk Radio

WHP 580 is the most award-winning medium market radio station in Pennsylvania.
Our staff is made up of four fulltime and two part-time employees. In addition to providing news all day on WHP 580, we also deliver newscasts for The River 97.3 WRVV, BOB 94.9, 99.3 KISS FM, The Fortress 1230 AM, FM 97 WLAN-FM & 1390 WLAN-AM in Lancaster, as well as NewsTalk 790 WAEB-AM in Allentown.

What makes the WHP 580 news department so great is its diversity. Every team member brings something unique to the stories we cover. We strive to not just cover the headlines of the day, but to bring our listeners stories they won't hear anywhere else.

Bill Mead is WHP 580's news director and is also part of the RJ Harris in the Morning crew.
Bill has worked in several radio markets throughout the northeast before arriving in the Commonwealth. As a native New Englander, Bill's a big Boston sports fan; Red Sox, Bruins and Pats and also loves Chelsea FC from the English Premier League.
When Bill's not gathering news from around Harrisburg and central Pennsylvania, he likes to spend time with his wife, Tara (who's also in the radio business), their children David and Cassie, as well as their newest addition, Cameron, who was born in November of 2006.

Bill also likes to hike the Appalachian Trail and check out the local craft beer and wine-making scene.

Bob Hauer is homegrown without a doubt! Born and raised in the countryside just outside of Shamokin, Bob has spent his entire life right here in Central PA, graduating from Our Lady of Lourdes Regional High School in Coal Township in 1998 and Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove in 2002.

Although at a young age (granted he's older than he looks and sounds that way, too!), Bob has an experienced background in broadcasting, working as a Top-40 DJ and a television production crew member before joining the WHP 580 News Team in late December of 2004.

Armed with a sense of humor and a "lucky to be here" attitude, Bob adds to an already tremendously successful news team with his background in our communities, our sports, and our lifestyles.
You can also catch Bob on our sister station, 1460 the Ticket, as one of our voices of high school football, following the Cumberland Valley Eagles and Bishop McDevitt Crusaders.
Beginning in the 2007-2008 season, Bob added some new duties as one of the PA Announcers for Hershey Bears hockey.

Bob welcomed his first son, Brodey, on May 18th, 2006.
